Confidence Behind
the Wheel Starts Here

Students learning to drive need not only the skills but the confidence to be successful. 5B driving school allows the students to gain confidence through practice and training on a dual brake vehicle with a Licensed Professional Driving Instructor. • 30 Hours of Online Drivers Ed Course – TeachSafe

The online class has 30 lessons designed to take an hour each lesson for a total of 30-hours. The curriculum that 5B Driving School uses is called TeachSafe. It was developed to fit the needs of all students by being relevant, interactive, and engaging. It is a state approved curriculum that will cover all of the skills needed to be a safe driver. Everything is completely online, and you will get immediate feedback on the work completed.

The online class is a go at your own pace class but needs to be completed within 90 days. That works out to be 10 hours a month, which is 2.5 hours a week. If the class isn’t finished in 90 days, there is a $30 monthly charge until the course is completed. Some students go through the class very quickly and that is fine. The goal of the class is that you get all the information to be successful at driving. Once you are behind the wheel, you will get to practice what you are learning online.

Step 3

Schedule the Private Driving Lessons

  • You need six hours of behind the wheel instruction
  • Scheduling is flexible and done easily through our scheduling app
  • After scheduling an appointment it will need to be approved and the parent will get a confirmation email as well as email reminders.

The driving portion is 6 hours of private lessons that will cover all of the state standards and will reiterate what is being learned online. Since the driving lessons are designed to complement the class, it works best to do them together. This allows me to help you if you have questions about the class and you will get to practice what you are learning in the class.

The drives are scheduled in 2-hour intervals. The first 2-hour drive can be scheduled after the completion of 10 lessons. The second 2-hour drive can be scheduled after 20 lessons and the third drive when the course is completed. The goal of the private drives is for you to feel comfortable behind the wheel, learn how to drive, and understand the rules of the road.

Step 4

Practice your driving with a supervising adult for 6 months before getting your license

  • Supervising driver needs to be at least 21 with a valid driver’s license
  • The student driver must have fifty hours of supervised driving with at least ten of the hours at night
  • After six months, the student takes both the written knowledge test at the DMV and the driving skills test
Once the student passes both tests, a restricted license is issued. The new driver, under 16, is restricted to only daytime driving unless a driver at least 21 is in the passenger seat. The new driver is also restricted for the first six months to only one passenger in the vehicle unless the passengers are related
